Specif actions in Rwanda
In the city of Rusizi, the pilot project aims to strengthen existing waste management and to experiment with a waste sorting and recovery approach. The pilot project will start with an analysis of the current waste management system and its potential for coverage based on existing human and material resources. This audit will also establish the needs in terms of equipment necessary for the Project’s execution.
Four activities will be deployed:
1- Technical and organisational support to the District in terms of solid waste management (pricing and organisation of collections, use of landfill, etc.).
2- Implementation of a pilot project for selective sorting and recovery of waste.
3- Purchase of equipment for the collection and transport of market, household and similar waste.
4- Improvement of the sanitary conditions of the public slaughterhouse.
