For nearly a year, the level of Lake Tanganyika has been rising and staying at a high level. From Bujumbura to Mpulungu in Zambia, the situation is the same: flooding, destruction of homes and infrastructure, the disappearance of beaches and destruction of vegetation.
The Latawama project team and Tanganyika Lake Authority led a scoping mission in Zambia for the Lake Tanganyika Water Management Project (LATAWAMA)
The Lake Tanganyika Authority and the Latawama project will be on a working visit to Uvira in the Democratic Republic of Congo and Mpulungu in Zambia on 16-19 October 2020 and 05-19 December 2020 respectively.
The validation of actions relating to sanitation and on solid waste management and the further design of the monitoring network will be the focus of joint working session with our Congolese and Zambian partners.
