Thanks to the LATAWAMA project jointly implemented by the Belgian Development Agency Enabel and the Lake Tanganyika Authority with funds from the European Union, the wastewater collection network of Bujumbura has been digitalized.
On 8 March 2023, the technical team appointed by Enabel, the Belgian engineering consultancy ALMADIUS, presented a diagnosis of the current situation and the scenarios to be envisaged to equip the city with a waste management system and the development of the circular economy (recovery of sorted waste).
The Lake Tanganyika Water Management project, funded by the European Union and implemented by the Belgian Development Agency alongside the Lake Tanganyika Authority, is partnering with Mpulungu Town Council to carry out a solid waste quantification and composition in the city of Mpulungu.
The LATAWAMA project was honored to attend the 2022 World Circular Economy Forum held in Kigali, Rwanda from 06th to 08th December 2022.
